She’s spent decades helping forward-thinking leaders and teams strengthen empathy to accelerate growth and impact. Maria has authored multiple books, including her most recent award-winning book, The Empathy Dilemma: How Successful Leaders Balance Performance, People, and Personal Boundaries 

She is also the host of the top-performing The Empathy Edge podcast, featuring global changemakers, leaders, and thought leaders each week.

Maria understands the power of empathy on both a business and personal level: In 2008, she suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm that almost killed her and inspired her memoir, Rebooting My Brain. In it, she explores the critical importance of empathy in healing and overcoming adversity.

Maria is a sought-after voice in media outlets, including MSNBC, NPR, Wisdom from the Top with Guy Raz, Entrepreneur and Thrive Global.
